Hamilton will be the official sunscreen supplier for next year's Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast.
A leading brand of sun protection for Australian families established in Adelaide in the 1920s, the company will supply sunscreen to athletes, volunteers and staff in the lead up to and during the Games.
Speaking at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, Gold Coast 2018 chairman Peter Beattie said he was pleased to welcome Hamilton to their sponsor family.
A highlight of today’s launch was the presence of Gold Coast 2018 athlete ambassadors and Glasgow 2014 gold medalists Emma McKeon from swimming and Domonic Bedggood from diving, who joined in a sun safety demonstration with the Games' mascot Borobi.
"Sun safety is a major focus for us all as we continue to plan for GC2018," Beattie said.
"This is the perfect partnership knowing that our athletes, volunteers and staff will be well looked after and protected with Hamilton sunscreen.
"It gives us a great deal of reassurance and reminds us that the health of everyone involved in the Games is right at the top of our list of priorities."
Hamilton Group brand manager Tara Edmonds said the company is proud to be a supplier to Gold Coast 2018, due to take place between April 4 and April 11 next year.
"Gold Coast 2018 is placing a great amount of emphasis on sun safety at these Games and we are looking forward to working together to delivering just that," she said.
"Hamilton sunscreens are Australian-made and owned and proud to have been protecting Australian families and visitors from Australia’s harsh conditions for over 80 years.
"The partnership between Hamilton and this Australian Commonwealth Games is a natural fit."
Gold Coast 2018 chief executive Mark Peters claimed there is no better time to talk about sun safety.
"Leading up to the long weekend when we’ll get outdoors to enjoy our wonderful country in beautiful weather is the perfect time to remind people to be sun smart," he said.
"This is a great partnership and one that will enable us to voice some extremely important health messages over the summer months.
"Generously applying and reapplying sunscreen is important to being well protected and will be especially so for GC2018 competitors, officials, spectators, volunteers and workers who will spend plenty of time in the Queensland sun."
