Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi claimed victory at the second large hill competition at the International Ski Federation Ski Jumping World Cup season in Engelberg.

Kobayashi triumphed for the first time this season last week in Klingenthal, which he followed with a third-place finish in Engelberg yesterday.

The reigning World Cup champion returned to the top of the podium with jumps of 132.5 and 134 metres today, despite challenging weather conditions at Gross-Titlis-Schanze in the Swiss resort.

The efforts gave Kobayashi a winning total of 272 points.

"It was a very difficult competition for all of us, but I had a good jump in the final round," Kobayashi said.

"I'm happy that I could be on the podium and I would like to thank the organisers and everyone involved for making the competition happen today."

Slovenia’s Peter Prevc finished as the runner-up, scoring 263.1 points.
