Beijing will host the International Luge Federation (FIL) Congress a year before staging the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Chinese capital was confirmed as the location for the event in 2021 by the FIL membership during the recent Congress in Ljubljana.

Beijing was unanimously voted as the host city for the Congress at the meeting in Slovenia’s capital.

The exact agenda will be revealed nearer the time of the 2021 Congress but the FIL is expected to decide on the hosts of the 2025 World Championships at the gathering of the membership in two years' time.

The sport's worldwide governing body usually awards the hosting rights four years before the event.

Beijing is one of three locations for events at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Luge competitions will take place alongside bobsleigh and skeleton at the Yanqing Sliding Center, located around 74 kilometres northwest of Beijing.

The venue will be used as a training base for the Chinese national teams after Beijing 2022.
