Lasse Norman Hansen and Michael Mørkøv triumphed in Copenhagen ©SixDays

Lasse Norman Hansen and Michael Mørkøv were crowned Six Day Series of Copenhagen winners after the final day of competition at the Ballerup Super Arena.

The Danish pairing topped the standings overnight, but were wary of their Belgian rivals Kenny de Ketele and Moreno de Pauw who remained dangerously placed.

Hansen and Mørkøv had a 100 point advantage over the Amsterdam and London winners, although a lap for the Belgians would see them move into the lead.

In front of a home crowd, the Danes were able to preserve their advantage heading into the final madison race of the day.

The pairing would ultimately win the discipline to seal the overall crown in Copenhagen, with Hansen and Mørkøv ending the six days with 329 points to their names.

De Ketele and Moreno de Pauw would have to make do with second place, after ending on the same number of laps but only a tally of 220 points.

The top three was completed by last week’s Berlin Six Days champions Yoeri Havik and Wim Stroetinga.

The Dutch duo finished with 167 points, but were also a lap down on the top two teams.

The series will now have a one night event in Palma, Mallorca, which will feature the top 12 male and female riders across the first four events.

This event is due to be held on March 17.
