Danish duo Lasse Norman Hansen and Michael Mørkøv retained their advantage at the summit of the leaderboard after the second day of action at the Six Day Series event in Copenhagen.

Hansen and Mørkøv ended day two with a total of 89 points, 19 in front of nearest challengers and compatriots Marc Hester and Jesper Mørkøv at the Ballerup Super Arena.

Kenny de Ketele and Moreno de Pauw of Belgium, the current overall Six Day Series leaders, remain in third place on the standings.

Danish riders Alex Rasmussen and Casper Pedersen have the third highest points tally after they were third in their derny heat, second in the 500 metres time trial and won the penultimate 10-lap sprint, but are seventh overall due to losing four laps on their rivals.

The trio of pairings, along with the Dutch team of Yoeri Havik and Wim Stroetinga, winners of the Six Day Berlin event, were able to gain a lap on the rest of the field.

The Danish pair struggled in the opening sprint events, picking up just one point, before they bounced back with victory in the elimination race.

Hansen and Mørkøv then finished second behind De Ketele and De Pauw in the 60-minute Madison.

Poland’s Wojtech Pszczolarski and Adrien Teklinski also tasted victory on the second day of the event in the Danish capital as they emerged victorious in the longest lap race.

There was further success for the host nation in the women’s event as Trine Schmidt picked up from where she left off yesterday.

Schmidt secured victory in the elimination race before she recorded a third-place result in the points race.

She ended the second day of competition on nine points, seven in front of Germany’s Gudrun Stock.

The Six Day Series event in Copenhagen continues tomorrow.
