Yoeri Havik and Wim Stroetinga were crowned Berlin Six Days champions after maintaining their overall lead for the fourth consecutive day at the Berlin Velodrome.

The Dutch pairing ended the six days of competition will a tally of 470 points to their names to finish top of the overall standings.

They would end a lap ahead of the Amsterdam and London winners Kenny de Ketele and Moreno de Pauw of Belgium, who would also trail on points.

De Ketele and De Pauw would end with 442 points to end as the runners-up in the latest event in the series.

The Belgians would begin the day intent on chasing down the Dutchman, who led overnight, and make an early blow by edging them to victory in the team elimination event.

Their victory was swiftly followed by success for Stefan Schafer of Germany in the stayer competition.

The German pairing of Leif Lampater and Marcel Kalz were then winners of the longest lap, ending ahead of Britain's Chris Latham and Andy Tennant.

Havik and Stroetinga , though, would round off the event by winning the one hour madision chase event, ending ahead of De Ketele and De Pauw to seal the overall win.

“I am super happy,” said Havik.

“One year ago we were four days in the lead, but then ended up finishing third.

“So I was nervous right until the last lap, but we made it and I am happy with that.”

Denmark's Amalie Dideriksen won the women's omnium event by finishing ahead of Britain's Katie Archibald.

There was also a victory for home favourite Maximilian Levy, as the German was crowned winner of the men's sprint classification.

The next Six Days event is scheduled to begin in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Thursday (January 26).
