Nitchaon Jindapol of Thailand defeated her compatriot Porntip Buranapras to reach the women's singles final at the Bitburger Open on the penultimate day of action at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Grand Prix Gold event in the German city of Saarbrücken.

Jindapol, seeded fourth, got the better of Buranapras in straight games.

The 25-year-old won the opening game 21-17 before securing her place in tomorrow's final, winning the second 21-12.

Jindapol will now meet He Bingjiao in the final after the Chinese player overcame Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrung in a thriller this evening.

Ongbamrung took the first game 21-18 before He, the top seed in the tournament, turned things around to win the next two games 21-18, 21-18 in a match that lasted 68 minutes.

In the men's singles draw, unseeded Sourabh Varma of India, who shocked home favourite Marc Zwiebler yesterday, reached the final after he ousted 15th seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark.

Varma, ranked 57 in the world, made light work of his opponent as he won 21-15, 21-18 to reach the final.

Joining Varma is China's Shi Yuqi after he dispatched Sameer Verma 21-18, 21-15 in the closing match on court two tonight.

Germany's Johannes Schoettler and Michael Fuchs delighted the home crowd by reaching the men's doubles final on home soil.

The eighth seeds required three games to upset the tournament's sixth seeds in Kim Astrup and Anders Ska Rasmussen of Denmark.

Schoettler and Fuchs took the lead, winning the first game 21-15 before they were pegged back 21-10 in the second.

Roared on by the partisan crowd in Saarbrücken, the Germans managed to pull through as they claimed the third and decisive game 21-15.

Joining them in the final will be unseeded Malaysian duo Ee Yi Teo and Yew Sin Ong after they beat Chen Hung Ling and Chi-Lin Wang of Chinese Taipei 21-16, 18-21, 21-17.

Thailand's Jongkolpha Kititharak and Rawinda Prajongjai avoided a scare in the women's doubles as they were taken to three games by an unseeded pair.

The second seeds charged into the lead, winning the opening game 21-11 before China's Huang Dongping and her partner Li Yinhui levelled the contest 21-18 in the second.

In a nervy third game, neither pair could be separated until the class and experience of the favourites shone through to win it 21-18.

In the other semi-final China's top seeds Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan also made it through after falling behind to Indonesia's Rizki Amel Pradipta and Tiara Rosa Nuraidah 22-20, only to come back and win the remaining two games 21-13, 21-15.

Elsewhere today, top seeds in the mixed doubles competition, Chris and Gabby Adcock of England, were comfortable winners in their semi-final.

The husband and wife pair defeated Malaysia's Kian Meng Tan and Pei Jing Lai 21-15, 21-18.

Facing the Adcocks in tomorrow's final will be the tournament's second seeds, Zheng Siwei and Chen Qingchen of China.

In the first match of the day on the second court inside Saarlandhalle, the Chinese duo eased to victory with a comfortable 21-15, 21-14 win over Sweden's Nico Ruponen and Amanda Hogstrom.
