Thailand's Nitchaon Jindapol avoided a potentially embarrassing elimination to advance to the quarter finals of the Bitburger Open, a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Grand Prix Gold event, in the German city of Saarbrücken today.

The number four seed was forced to come from a game down to overcome Denmark's unseeded Natalia Ko Rohde in 48 minutes.

Rohde took a narrow first game lead 21-19 before Jindapol began to show her class to level the match up at 21-5.

The Thai player then secured her passage into the last eight with a 21-13 third game win.

Jindapol's compatriot Busanan Ongbamrung who is seeded third in the competition, also successfully navigated her way past a Danish opponent.

The 20-year-old raced into a one game lead, taking the opener 21-7 against Julie Finne-Ips before easing into the last eight by taking the second 21-10.

Husband and wife duo, Chris and Gabby Adcock of England, were comfortable winners in the mixed doubles competition.

The top seeds won the first game 21-14 before being pegged back by Indonesian duo Alfian Eko Prasetya and Annisa Saufika 27-25 in the second.

The English pair proved too strong however and went on to win in three games, taking the decisive third 21-11.

Third seed Marc Zwiebler lifted the crowd by defeating China's Huang Yuxiang in a thrilling contest.

Huang eased into a one game lead by taking the first 21-11.

Despite trailing, Zwiebler was roared on by the partisan crowd to produce a stunning comeback to progress by taking the second and third games 21-19, 21-19.

Further misery awaited German players in the women's doubles action as unseeded duo Franziska Volkmann and Eva Janssens were beaten by Denmark's third seeds Sara Thygesen and her partner Maiken Fruergaard.
