New cable car boosts Munich 2018 Olympic bid

December 23 - Munich’s hopes of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2018 have been lifted with the opening of a new 1.5 kilometre cable car service, capable of carrying up to 2,000 passengers per hour to the pistes of Garmisch-Partenkirchen – a key location for the Munich 2018 alpine events.

December 17 - Nineteen-year-old Eve Muirhead (pictured) – described by the British Olympic Association's (BOA) chief executive Andy Hunt as "probably the world’s best young player" - has been confirmed as skip for the British curling team at the Vancouver Winter Olympics in February.

December 11 - Munich 2018 is taking its campaign to host the Winter Olympics to Red Square in Moscow when it attends the first-ever International Paralympic Day for winter sports.
