December 22 - The Intercontinental Alpensia Pyeongchang Resort has opened as Pyeongchang's 2018 Olympic hopes continue to be boosted by the pace of development in the Alpensia resort.

The hotel will be the official hotel for the Olympic Movement, including the International Olympic Committee members, if Pyeongchang are chosen to host the Winter Olympics ahead of its rivals, Annecy and Munich.

The 238-room mountainside resort is located in the Alpensia village in the Taebaek Mountains.

Pyeongchang Alpensia ski resort, which was officially opened last month and will be the centrepiece of Pyeongchang's bid to host the Olympics, has seven slopes in total, including a snowboard dedicated one and another snow sledding dedicate one.

It is the tenth ski resort in Gangwon Province and its downhill course slipping down from the top, 700 metres above sea level, where provides the optimal living conditions for human health and bio-rhythms, is an impressive feature, officials claimed today.

The luxury hotel offers several restaurants including Flavours, an Italian/Korean-inspired all-day dining restaurant with an open show kitchen.

There is also a spa and an open-air concert hall.

Event space includes a conference centre for up to 1,600 delegates, two ballrooms and an auditorium.

Nearby incentive activity options include a ski park, a 27-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and the Ocean 700 water park.
