United States completed the line-up for the Women's World Floorball Championships by winning their playoff match with Canada in Detroit.

The US team had taken command of the playoff match yesterday by recording a 14-2 win in the first leg at the Brownstown Sports Center.

Both teams returned to the venue for the second leg, with the Canadian team hoping for a different result.

They were unable to achieve an unlikely turnaround, as the Americans proved too strong for the second successive day.

A 7-1 victory saw the US book their place in the World Championships.

They will now join host nation Switzerland at the 16-team tournament.

Australia, Japan, Thailand and Singapore are the four representatives of Asia.

Ten European nations have also secured their place at the event.

They are Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden.

Sweden are the defending champions having beaten Finland in the 2017 final, securing a sixth consecutive title and eighth overall.

They won 2-1 on penalties following a 5-5 draw after overtime.

The 16 teams will vie for the world title in the Swiss town Neuchâtel, with competition due to take place from December 7 to 15.
