Germany's Erik Machens gave home fans something to shout about by winning the men's single class two competition at the World Para Dance Sport Mainhatten Cup in Frankfurt.

This was the German's first appearance since finishing second at last year's World Championships in the Belgian municipality of Malle.

Poland's Pawel Karpinski and China's Tongyu Wu completed the podium line-up.

Despite having to settle for silver in the men's single class two event, Karpinski still won two gold medals in Frankfurt thanks to excellent performances in both the duo standard and duo latin class two events alongside partner Joanna Reda.

Ukraine's Snizhana Kernychna and Volodymyr Kernychnyi and Finland's Leevi Ketoia and Zaida-Ester Launis claimed silver and bronze respectively.

Israel's Tomer Margalit claimed the women's single class one title, followed by Poland's Julia Sadkowska and Ukraine's Snizhana Kernychna.

Slovakia claimed a one-two in the combi standard class two competition.

Maria Dutkova and Martin Solc led the standings ahead of Maria Gazdikova and Olejar Maros whilst Ukrainian couple Nataliya Bespalova and Mykhailo Saveliev took bronze.

Ivan Zamiga and Olena Dankevych did, however, make sure Ukraine claimed a title by winning the combi latin class two competition.

They saw off competition from China's Wu Tongyu and Qian Liling and Kazakhstan's Muktarova and Vladislav Sakho, who claimed silver and bronze respectively.

The final event, the combi standard class one, was won by Finland's Timo Pyykkönen and Tuuli Harju.

Slovakia's Martina Sekaninova and Lukas Bogdan claimed silver whilst The Netherlands’ Marleen Bolwijn and Tim Bijker sealed bronze.

Approximately 60 athletes from 15 countries took part in the Mainhatten Cup in Frankfurt, which served as preparation for the dancers ahead of the 2018 European Championships.
