The second day of the World Para Dance Sport’s first competition of the year in Cuijk saw dancers from Belarus and Ukraine pick up gold medals.

Competitors were taking part in the ballroom and women's singles events with winners declared in the single woman 1, single woman 2, combi class 1, combi class 2, duo class 1 and duo class 2 categories.

Ukraine's squad contains world champions Olena Chynka, Ivan Sivak and Illona Slugovyna whilst Belarus boast Hanna Harchakova and Roman Usmanov in their team

The event in the Netherlands is hosting 63 athletes from 13 countries and is the first time the dancers have taken to the floor since the World Championships in Malle in Belgium last October.

The competition is due finish tomorrow with the Latin and single men events where Ukraine, Belarus are likely to be challenged by yesterday’s medallists Belgium along with The Philippines, whose squad contains Rhea Marquez and Julius Obero.

It was recently announced that dance sport is being considered as a demonstration sport for the Paralympic Games at Paris 2024.
