Dancers from Ukraine came out on top of the medals table at the World Para Dance Sport event in Cuijk, taking nine of the golds on offer.

Olena Chynka led the charge for Ukraine by taking gold in all four of her events in a repeat of the excellent performance she put in at the Malle 2017 World Championships in October.

Chynka claimed titles in the women's single and single freestyle class two along with victories in the duo Latin and standard events in the combined one and two classes with partner Oleksandr Onischenko.

Two-time world champion Illona Slugovyna, also from Ukraine, left with two gold medals.

First, she took the top prize in her strongest event, the women’s single class one, before combining with Antdii Tovstyl to clinch gold in the combi standard one.

Outside of the Ukrainian athletes, Rhea Marquez and Julius Obero of The Philippines claimed gold in the combi Latin one and two combined events whilst Belarusian world champions Hanna Harchakova and Roman Usmanov clinched the combi standard two title.

There was also success for Belgium as they triumphed in both single freestyle one events.

It was recently announced that dance sport is being considered as a demonstration sport for the Paralympic Games at Paris 2024.
