Sweden kept their place at the top of the standings after maintaining their undefeated record on day three of the World Men's Curling Championships in Las Vegas.

The Olympic silver medallists beat South Korea 5-4 in the evening session at the Orleans Arena, making it five wins out of five.

There was never more than one point between the teams in the game and in the 10th end, Sweden’s skip Niklas Edin hit out a South Korean stone to score one point and secure victory.

"We struggled the first-half to get the set-ups the way we wanted to," Edin said.

"But then after the half-time break the speed got a little quicker again, as it has almost every game, and after that we were in control I think.

"Then we were really short on time, that was our biggest problem in the last three, four ends there."

Norway are second on four wins out of five having followed up a 7-5 win over the United States by losing 10-8 to Russia.

Canada, China, South Korea and Scotland all sit on three wins each after today.

The Canadians and the Scottish won their afternoon outings with the former beating Italy 8-7 and the latter defeating the US 7-6.

China beat South Korea 9-4 prior to a 7-4 loss against Japan, who had earlier overcome The Netherlands 7-6 for their first win of the event.

Germany had mixed fortunes today, losing 7-4 to Switzerland before beating The Netherlands 8-7 after an extra end to record their first win.

Switzerland’s win was their first of the event.

The top six teams will qualify for the play-off stage - rather than four which was the case previously - after the round-robin phase is completed on Friday (April 6).

The qualification games and semi-finals are due to take place on Saturday (April 7) and the medal games will be on Sunday (April 8).
