Patriot Boxing Team earned decisive revenge against the Astana Arlans Kazakhstan as they whitewashed the defending World Series of Boxing champions in St Petersburg.

The Russian based team suffered a 5-0 defeat on their visit to Kazakhstan last month, but returned their favour in their home tie in Group C.

He was awarded a split decision victory over Saken Bibossinov, with two judges giving him the verdict 48-47.

The third official deemed Bibossinov to be the victor by a 49-46 score.

The scorecards were identical in the 60kg lightweight bout, with home fighter Abubakr Aidamirov beating Astana Arlans’ Serik Temirzhanov.

Pavel Sosulin sealed victory for the hosts, as the 69kg welterweight was awarded a unanimous points victory over Bekozod Khalmetov.

Shigabudin Alivev rounded off a superb performance from the hosts, as he clinched a split decision win over Nursultan Amanzholov in the 91kg super heavyweight fight.
