Patriot Boxing Team came from behind to earn their first victory of the World Series of Boxing season in Kazan.

The Russian based team suffered a heavy 5-0 loss to defending champions Astana Arlans Kazakhstan in their opening Group C fixture and began badly again today, this time against the Indian Tigers.

Sachin Sachin was awarded a split decision victory in the first bout of the contest at Basket Hall.

Two judges gave the Indian boxer the verdict by a 48-46 margin in the 49 kilogram light flyweight division, while the other official scored it 48-46 in favour of his opponent Dorzho Radnaev.

The local fighter had points deducted by all three judges after warnings during the fight.

Shekov Mukhammad got the hosts back on level teams immediately, as the 56kg bantamweight was awarded a unanimous points victory over the Tigers' Madan Lal.

The Patriot Boxing Team then moved into the lead as Radmir Abdurakhmanov triumphed in the 64kg light welterweight division.

Two judges gave him victory against Rohit Tokas by a 50-45 margin, while the other official scored it 49-46 in his favour.

Ramazan Saaduev sealed the Patriot Boxing Team’s first win of the season, after he unanimously beat Mandeep Jangra in the 75kg middleweight fight.

Further gloss was added to the scoreline when Anton Zaitsev claimed a comfortable 91kg heavyweight win over the Indian Tigers’ Sanjeet Sanjeet.

Two judges gave Zaitsev a 48-47 victory, with the third offering a more empathic margin of 50-45.

The 4-1 win moved the Patriot Boxing Team up to second in Group C, behind the unbeaten Astana Arlans Kazakhstan, who have two wins.

In Group B, the British Lionhearts produced a dominant display against Italia Thunder, as they emerged as 5-0 winners.

Galal Yafai and Peter McGrail earned unanimous points victories in their light fly and bantamweight bouts respectively, while their overseas heavyweight also achieved the feat.

Middleweight Luke McCormack claimed a split decision win over Paolo Di Lernia, before Benjamin Whittaker beat Guiseppe Perugino after the referee stopped the bout in the fifth round.

The victory keeps the Lionhearts in second place in the standings, with two wins and one defeat so far.

The France Fighting Roosters remain at the top of the standings, after they claimed a a third straight win by beating the Croatian Knights in Zadar.

They eased into a 4-0 lead with some strong performances, before heavyweight Toni Filipi earned a consolation win for the hosts.
