Double Summer Universiade gold medallist Wang Tzu-wei of Chinese Taipei will bid to continue his recent run of good form when he competes at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Dutch Open in Almere.

Wang, the winner of the men's singles at Taipei 2017 as well as being part of the squad which claimed the team title, is the top seed for the event at the Topsportcentrum.

He will open his campaign at the tournament, part of the third-tier Grand Prix level of the BWF's competitions, against Pratul Joshi of India.

The Dutch Open, which is due to run through to Sunday (October 15), has a total prize fund of $65,000 (£50,000/€55,000).

Indian Ajay Jayaram is the second seed in the men's singles event and will take on Artem Potcharov of Ukraine in his first round encounter.

In the women's singles, Beiwen Zhang of the United States will be the one to beat as she is the top seed.

Zhang will face a qualifier in her opening contest in the Dutch city.

Multiple Pan American Games champion and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Michelle Li of Canada is also in the field.

England's Marcus Ellis will be aiming for two titles in Almere as he has entered the mixed and men's doubles competitions.

Ellis will compete alongside Chris Langridge in the men's doubles as the duo look to rekindle the form which saw them clinch the bronze medal last year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The 28-year-old's partner in the mixed doubles will be Lauren Smith.

Ellis won the silver medal with Gabby Adcock at the Dutch Open back in 2012.
