Sally Pearson was among the athletes to help Gold Coast 2018 celebrate Three Years to Go until the start of the next Commonwealth Games ©TwitterOlympic 100 metres hurdles champion Sally Pearson was among those to join festivities today to mark Three Years to Go until the start of the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.


The 28-year-old, who is based in the city, has won the 100m hurdles gold medal at the last two Commonwealth Games, Delhi 2010 and Glasgow 2014.

She will be hoping to complete at hat-trick at Gold Coast 2018, which is due to open on April 4. 

Pearson joined other leading athletes, Michael Shelley, winner of the marathon at Glasgow last year, and cyclist Sara Carrigan, the Athens 2004 Olympic individual road race gold medallist, at the community celebration held at Kurrawa Park at Broadbeach. 

The event was supported by 90.9 Sea FM and 92.5 Gold FM, along with the Gold Coast Bulletin and Channel 7. 

The radio stations hosted a live outside broadcast and the event also featured challenges, family activities, a sausage sizzle and refreshments.

To mark the occasion Gold Coast 2018 also launched a new promotional video.
