Tasoev's adherence to these requirements has been disputed by critics in Ukraine, but he added to his men's over-100 kilograms world title won in Qatar's capital Doha in May with a second IJF Grand Slam victory of the year at the National Gymnastics Arena in the Azerbaijani capital.

He took gold in Baku at the expense of Georgia's third seed Guram Tushishvili, who collected three penalties in the final.

Another Russian neutral in Olympic bronze medallist Tamerlan Bashaev placed joint-third by beating Georgia's Gela Zaalishvili, and the podium was completed by Kazakhstan's Kazhybayev Yerassyl who overcame home favourite Imran Yusifov.

Igolnikov was the other Russian neutral to triumph on the final day, winning a second Grand Slam of the year in the men's under-90kg.

He beat Ivaylo Ivanov of Bulgaria in the final, with bronzes going to Turkey's Mihael Žgank against Azerbaijan's Murad Fatiyev and Krisztián Tóth of Hungary against Austria's Thomas Scharfetter.

Georgia's Ilia Sulamanidze denied Russian neutrals a trio of wins on the final day in Baku, overcoming Matvey Kanikovskiy in the men's under-100kg final.

Azerbaijan's Zelym Kotsoiev won the first bronze medal bout against Zlatko Kumric of Croatia, followed by Aurélien Diesse of France against Portugal's two-time world champion Jorge Fonseca.

Germany's Anna-Maria Wagner earned a sixth career Grand Slam in Baku against Alice Bellandi of Italy in the women's under-78kg final.

Bronzes went to three-time world champion Mayra Aguiar of Brazil against Germany's Alina Böhm and Mami Umeki against Rinoko Wada in an all-Japanese clash.

Beatriz Souza of Brazil was the other winner in Baku, beating Portugal's Rochele Nunes in the women's over-78kg final.

Raz Hershko of Israel won the first bronze against Sarah Asahina of Japan, followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina's Larisa Cerić against Russian neutral Elis Startseva.

The United Arab Emirates' capital Abu Dhabi is set to host the next IJF Grand Slam from October 24 to 26.
