Sambists representing the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) dominated the World Beach Sambo Championships in the Dominican Republic.

Competing as neutrals they won five of the eight categories at the Championships, held in the city of Juan Dolio.

In the men’s 58 kilograms category Damir Shamsutdinov claimed gold, while the men’s 71kg title went to Shamil Tiuriaev.

Victory in the men’s 88kg category went to Anton Surovtsev.

In the women’s events, athletes representing FIAS won two titles - with the 50kg going to Oksana Kobeleva and the 59kg won by Ekaterina Tsybert.

The other three individual titles were all won by Romanian sambists, with the men’s +88kg going to Ilie Natea.

The women’s 72kg was won by Volha Maleika, with the women’s +72kg title going to Bianca Prodan.

The second day featured a team competition, won by Romania.

Second place went to Kazakhstan, with third place shared by teams from Costa Rica and representing FIAS.
