Matteo Zurloni of Italy and Indonesian Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi have secured the first Paris 2024 Olympic Games sport climbing qualifying places following gold medal performances at the World Championships in Bern.

Zurloni topped the men's speed podium at the PostFinance Arena with a blistering time of 5.56 seconds in the final.

However, the time did not matter as China's Jinbao Long registered a false start which disqualified him.

Indonesian Rahmad Adi Mulyono comfortably beat Kazakhstan's Rishat Khailbullin to bronze by 2.19sec.

The women's speed final saw Made Rita go up against American Emma Hunt.

She ending up scaling the 15-metre wall first after 6.49, while Hunt clocked in 0.18 later.

Aleksandra Miroslaw beat compatriot Aleksandra Kalucka in an all-Polish battle for third place by 6.55 to 8.07.

Long and Hunt will not be too disappointed with defeat as they also clinched qualification spots for Paris 2024.

A total of 17 titles were also won in the Para climbing finals.

Britain's Abigail Robinson once again topped a World Championships route in the women's B2 lead.

She completed the wall while second-placed Seneida Biendarra managed to reach the 29+ hold for silver.

Austrian Edith Scheinecker secured bronze with a score of 28.

"It's a really cool crowd and it was fun to hype them up and I thrive off that atmosphere," said Robinson.

"And topping was just the cherry on top.

"I felt capable of doing it when I came in.

"The moves looked really cool, it was my style, I like steep climbing, so I knew that would be in my favour.

"I've worked really hard on my 'self-talk' in isolation and in the lead up to a comp so I had it in my head that I was capable of topping the route.

"I was at the back of the wall visualising the wall, visualising topping the route, visualising cheering to the crowd, and this built up my belief I could do it, and it panned out exactly how I imagined it in my head, so I couldn’t ask for anything better."

Tomorrow's penultimate day of competition is due to feature the women's boulder and lead final.
