France and Japan have been confirmed as hosts for the Paris 2024 wheelchair basketball qualification events in both the men's and women's competitions.

The pair were selected at the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) World Congress in Dubai, although exact dates for the events are yet to be decided.

The men's repechage tournament is due to take place in Antibes while the women's teams will head to Osaka.

Due to the reduction in team places at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, a new qualification system was introduced.

It aims to "ensure the fairest approach and that the best teams in the world are represented at the Games".

The repechage tournaments offer a final opportunity for teams to qualify for Paris 2024 that have failed to do so through the Zonal Championships.

A total of four men's and four women's teams qualify through the Zonal Championships, before the remaining quartet of sides in both categories advance via the repechages.

Wheelchair basketball has featured at every edition of the Paralympic Games.

The United States are the most successful country in the sport with 13 gold medals across both the men's and women's tournaments.

Canada's sixth title put them second overall while Israel occupy third place on four gold medals.
