Leonie Beck triumphed in the women's 10-kilometres event before helping her country take gold in the mixed 4x1500 metres relay in Sardinia.

The 25-year-old surged up the rankings as she went from 58^th place at the end of lap one to first by the end of the fifth.

She then held on until the end of the sixth loop to clock in after 1hour 56mins 17.4secs to beat Italian duo Ginevra Taddeucci and Giulia Gabrrielleschi.

Beck then joined Lea Boy, Oliver Klemet, and Rob Muffels for gold in the relay in 1:04:57.7.

"It was a really great experience and very successful for me," said Beck.

"I won two gold medals and it's always a pleasure for me to swim in Italy.

"I love Italy and I love the Italian people - it's always great!"

The quartet were victorious by 0.9 seconds over Italy's Rachele Bruni, Barbara Pozzobon, Marcello Guidi, and Ivan Giovannoni.

Another Italian quartet reached the podium as Gregorio Paltinieri, Domenico Acerenza, Teddeucci and Gabbrielleschi settled for bronze after 1:04:48.9.

"It was amazing," Paltrinieri said.

"The support was incredible.

"We had the European Championships last year in Italy and it was great, and for a World Cup to see many people in the stands it was incredible, so thanks to everybody.

"Open water is getting bigger in Italy!"

Hungarian Kristof Rasovszky prevailed in the men's 10km final after he registered a time of 1:47:17.60.

He denied yet another Italian gold medal by beating second-placed Domenico Acerenza while Klemet rounded out the top three.

The World Cup circuit is set to return on May 27 and 28 at Setubal in Portugal.
