Jutta Leerdam continued her stranglehold on the women’s 1,000 metres title by winning the event for the fifth time this season in the Polish city.

The Dutch speed skating star has won all the women's 1,000 metres races she has competed in during the 2022-2023 campaign as she crossed the finish line in a winning time of 1min 14.94sec.

American Kimi Goetz sealed silver in 1:15.54 as Japan’s Miho Takagi bagged bronze in 1:15.67.

The Netherlands earned their second gold of the day when Wesly Dijs stormed to the men’s 1,000m title.

Dijs clocked a track record time of 1:08.52, beating the previous best mark of 1:08.67 set by Hein Otterspeer nine years ago.

Jordan Stolz of the United States claimed his third medal in Tomaszów Mazowiecki when he crossed in 1:08.64 for silver.

Otterspeer saw his track record go but ensured a place on the podium when he finished in 1:08.72 for bronze.

Bart Hoolwerf secured the Dutch team’s third gold on a memorable day when he triumphed in the men’s mass start final.

There were 0.18 separating the top three as Hoolwerf secured gold in 8:19.32.

Chung Jae-won of South Korea claimed silver in 8:19.40 as Andrea Giovannini of Italy came home in 8:19.50 for bronze.

Japan also topped the podium on the final day in Tomaszów Mazowiecki courtesy of Momoka Horikawa’s victory in the women’s mass start final.

Horikawa overcame the Canadian challenge of Valerie Maltais and Ivanie Blondin to take her first World Cup gold in 8:58.39.

Maltais sealed silver in 8:58.56 as Blondin posted 9:03.51 for bronze.
