Slovakia’s Paralympic champion Veronika Vadovicova has won her third European Para shooting  gold medal of the week in Hamar, Norway.

Vadovicova had been in fine form throughout the day in the R3 mixed prone 10 metres air rifle, leading the standings after qualification.

In the final, she shot 254.0 to make sure of the title.

Her compatriot Radoslav Malenovsky took silver with 253.5 in a desperately close finish.

Turkey’s Erhan Coskuner shot 232.0 to take the bronze.

"It has been a good start to the year," Vadovikova said of her three gold medals at the start of a new Paralympic cycle.

"I am satisfied even though it was only a European competition."

"I don’t remember two Slovaks fighting it out for the gold medal before," coach Milan Golena said.

In the mixed prone 10 metres air rifle for shooters with a visual impairment, Ager Solabarrieta Txakartegi from the Basque country in Spain won gold for Spain with a score of 242.0

He had led all the way from qualification.

Poland’s Barbara Moskal shot 237.9  for silver.

Bronze on home soil went to Norway’s Daniel Waloe with 216.4.

In the R5 mixed air rifle 10 metres prone SH2, the struggle between British shooters Ryan Cockbill and James Bevis went all the way to the wire.

It was Cockbill who prevailed with a 21.7 on his penultimate shot.

His score of 255.0 gave him gold ahead of his compatriot who finished with 254.4.

Sweden’s Philip Jonsson’s 232.3  was enough for bronze.

Croatia’s Dragan Ristic, Paralympic champion in Tokyo, was only able to finish 7th.
