Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Veronika Vadovicova was among the winners on the opening day of the World Shooting’s Para Sport European 10-metre Championships in Hamar.

The Slovakian shooter won mixed R6 50 metre rifle prone SH1 gold at Tokyo 2020, the fourth Paralympic title of her career.

Her participation at the European Championships began in similarly successful fashion, where she clinched victory in the R2 women’s 10m air rifle standing event.

Vadovicova finished top of the standings by scoring 249.4 points at the Hamar Olympic Hall in Norway.

Poland’s Emilia Normann finished as the silver medallist on 249.3, with Sweden’s Anna Normann securing bronze on 227.9.

The men’s R1 10m air rifle standing event saw Serbia’s Laslo Suranji secure gold with a score of 246.2.

Denmark’s Jens Frimann finished as his nearest challenger on 244.6, while a score of 223.0 was enough for Hungary’s Csaba Rescsik to win bronze.

France’s Kevin Litot and Britain’s Ryan Cockbill had a closely-contested battle in the R4 mixed 10m air rifle standing event.

Litot emerged as the winner on 252.7, ending 0.7 clear of second placed Cockbill on 252.0.

France’s Tanguy de la Forest finished as the bronze medallist on 230.3.

The VIS mixed 10m air rifle standing SH-VI event saw Poland’s Barbara Moskal secure gold.

Moskal triumphed with a total score of 211.9, with Spain’s Maria Rivero Fernandez following in second place on 201.2.

Poland’s Katarzyna Orzechowska completed the podium places on 171.9.

A total of 114 shooters from 26 countries are taking part in the European Championships.

Competition will take place until Thursday (March 17).
