Perennial semi-finalists Spain and Russia once again made UEFA Futsal Euro last four with comfortable victories in their first knockout matches in The Netherlands.

Both quarter-finals were staged at Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome, with Group C winners Russia up first against Group D runners-up Georgia.

Russia advanced to a seventh semi-final from the last eight European Championships, although they were tested by a Georgia side making their debut on this stage, with goalkeeper Zviad Kupatadze in inspired form in the first half.

Artem Niyazov fired Russia in front early in the second half, only for Bruno Petry to stun the favourites as he converted Elisandro's cross to make it 1-1.

However, Russia were able to set up a semi-final against Ukraine as Ivan Chishkala volleyed home Robinho's corner, before adding his second late on to clinch a 3-1 victory.

Seven-time winners Spain continued their record of making it to the last four of every edition the tournament by making short work of Slovakia.

Mellado, Lozano and Raúl Campos had the Spanish in cruise control at halftime with a 3-0 advantage, and things got worse for Slovakia when Martin Směřička was sent off for handling outside the box in the role of flying goalkeeper.

Mellado added his second of the match, before Peter Serbin grabbed a goal for Slovakia.

Campos restored Spain's four-goal cushion and secured a 5-1 win.

A mouth-watering tie against reigning European and world champions Portugal awaits Spain in the semi-finals.

Both semi-finals are set to be held on Friday (February 4) in Amsterdam.
