Qualification at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Cross World Cup in Val Thorens was cancelled due to heavy snowfall at the French resort.

Organisers initially delayed the first qualification run of the event by one hour, with the second qualifier cancelled.

Officials were ultimately forced to cancel qualification entirely.

Weather conditions have also led to tomorrow’s competition being pushed back by one hour.

Back-to-back World Cups are taking place at the resort this weekend, with competition also planned on Saturday (December 11).

They will be the second and third events of the FIS Ski Cross World Cup season respectively, after last month's Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics test event at Zhangjiakou's Secret Garden resort.

Sweden’s world champion Sandra Näslund triumphed in the women's competition in China.

Russia’s Sergey Ridzik won the men’s event.
