López's victory was a convincing one and she had the best score in each of the women's compound quarter-finals, semi-finals and final at the South Dakota venue.

After seeing off American Paige Pearce 148-142 in the quarter-finals, López was close to perfect in an all-Colombian semi-final, beating Nora Valdez 149-145.

A 147-145 victory versus Toja Ellison of Slovenia followed in the final, and López has now won four World Cup crowns on the bounce.

"I’m very happy," was López's verdict afterwards.

"This was the ending we were hoping for a great week my team had. 

"I’m not capable of understanding what happened, I’m very excited.

"It was a very tight final but thankfully things worked out for me."

Nobody has won six overall World Cup titles before, although American Brady Ellison - married to the silver medalist - could match that feat in the men's recurve event tomorrow.

Tanja Gellenthien of Denmark beat Valdez 147-143 to claim bronze.

Dutchman Mike Schloesser won the men's compound event, having won World Championship silver at the same venue earlier in the month.

Schloesser is now a three-time winner, and retains the title he won in 2019.

The 2020 World Cup circuit was lost to the coronavirus crisis.

As in 2019, Schloesser beat Braden Gellenthien of the United States in the final, with the score 148-144 this time.

Kris Schaff won the bronze medal for the US hosts.
