Three candidates are seeking to be named World Draughts Federation (FMJD) President, with the governing body set to hold its Annual General Meeting.

Estonia’s Janek Mäggi has led the organisation since 2017 and will be hoping to secure a second term in office.

The Estonian Draughts Association has backed his re-election campaign,

Mäggi faces competition from Poland’s Jacek Pawlicki and Anatolii Yatsenko of Ukraine.

The Polish Draughts Federation nominated Pawlicki, who previously served as European Draughts Confederation President from 1998 to 2007.

Pawlicki was the FMJD director of tournaments from 2009 to 2020, while he was a member of the Technical Committee from 2001 until last year.

Yatsenko is the current President of the Ukrainian Draughts Federation.

France's Richard Przewozniak and Russia's Yuriy Chertok are seeking vice-president positions, with Estonia’s Aare Harak poised to be re-elected treasurer.

Latvia’s Roberts Misans and Russia’s Yuriy Chertok are standing to be the governing body’s general secretary.

The tournament director is expected to be confirmed as Clifton Agata from Curacao, while Lithuania’s Aleksej Domchev, Turkey’s Ibragim Ismauilov and Belarus’ Youry Lipnitsky could be the youth director.
