Defending men’s champion Kiran Badloe of The Netherlands has extended his advantage at the RS:X World Championships in Spain, while compatriot Lilian De Geus saw her lead reduced in the women’s event.

Badloe started the day’s racing with a nine point advantage, and extended his total points lead to 29, and his net points lead to 26, after an impressive performance which saw him finish second in the first race of the day before winning the next two.

Vyron Kokkalanis of Greece moved up to second with a total points of 54, and a net points score of 40, after third, fourth and seventh placed finishes on the day.

Mattia Camboni of Italy, who started the day’s racing in second, dropped to third after fourth, 11th and 10th placed finishes on the day gave him a total points score of 65 and a net points score of 44.

In the women’s event, defending champion De Geus of The Netherlands started the day with a six point advantage but saw it trimmed to three in both the net and total points standings.

De Geus finished second, fifth and fourth on the day to give her a total points of 28 and a net points total of 21.

The big winner of the day was Charline Picon of France who won the first two races of the day, and finished fifth in the third, to sit on a points total of 31 and a net points total of 24.

In third place overall is Katy Spychakov of Israel who won the day’s third race, which followed on from fourth and sixth place finishes in the day’s other races.

Spychakov was able to discard her sixth place finish in race eight, with it being her worst of the event so far, and the results gave her a total points of 32 and a net points total of 26.

The final day of racing is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Cadiz.
