Defending champions Kiran Badloe and Lilian de Geus opened up healthy leads in the men's and women's events, respectively, as racing continued at the RS:X World Championships in Spain.

Badloe was in superb form as he finished in the top three in every race contested in Cadiz today.

The Dutch windsurfer won the second race either side of third and second-place results to end on a net total of 10 points.

Italy's Mattio Camboni is nine points adrift in second after finishing second, fourth and sixth.

European champion Yoav Cohen of Israel also has 19 points after recovering from a difficult opening day with one victory and two third-place finishes.

De Geus has 10 points and is six clear of the rest of the field in the women's competition.

The Dutch athlete claimed one victory and finished fourth and second in the other two races to extend her advantage at the summit of the standings.

Israel's Katy Spychakov claimed a bullet in the last race of the day to move up to second on 16 points, with Poland's Zofia Noceti-Klepacka on the same total.

The event is due to continue tomorrow.
