Trailblazing football coach Lisa Fallon and marketing professional Damien O’Neill have been appointed onto Paralympics Ireland’s Board of Directors.

Fallon started her position at the beginning of the year where she is set to use her expertise in high-performance sport.

O’Neill joined the Board last September and is expected to use his skills in the commercial, marketing and sponsorship areas.

Fallon has blazed a trail in coaching having become the first Irish female coach to work in the top two tiers of English football.

She has worked at a number of clubs including Cork City, Chelsea Women, the Northern Ireland men’s national team and the Dublin men’s senior Gaelic football side.

O’Neill, who has recently retired, served as group head of marketing at Allianz Ireland where he oversaw the long-running sponsorship deal with the Gaelic Athletic Association National Football League.

He also played an instrumental role in the partnership between Allianz and Paralympic Ireland that supported athletes including Jason Smyth, Michael McKillop and Ellen Keane.

Fallon and O’Neill join the Board which already comprises of President John Fulham, Eimear Breathnach, Catherine Walsh, Mairead Farquharson, Lisa Clancy, Brendan Jennings, Tony Dignam and Louise Reilly.

"I am delighted to welcome our new Board members," said Fulham.

"They bring with them a wealth of experience in very varied areas of importance and relevance to Paralympics Ireland and I very much look forward to working with them.

"This year will be a very interesting and exciting year as we look towards the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in August.

"I am very happy that we have a great range of knowledge and expertise on our Board in Paralympics Ireland, especially with the addition of Lisa and Damien, and that we are very well placed to support our athletes through the current global health crisis, to Tokyo and onwards to Paris and Los Angeles."
