Defending champion Nour El Sherbini eased into the third round of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Women's World Championship with victory over Canada's Hollie Naughton in Cairo.

El Sherbini, who is making her first appearance since winning the world title in Chicago in March, recorded a 13-11, 11-7, 11-4 win to progress.

The Egyptian star, seeded second for the tournament taking place in front of the Pyramids of Giza, will face 12th seed Joshna Chinappa in round three.

Chinappa beat Ho Tze-Lok after the Hong Kong player retired when trailing 11-5, 11-4.

Third seed Camille Serme of France was among the other players to progress as she overcame Millie Tomlinson of England 11-4, 11-5, 11-8.

Serme's next opponent will be 15th seed Yathreb Abdel of Egypt, who ousted compatriot Nada Abbas 7-11, 11-13, 13-11, 13-11, 11-8.

Sixth seed Joelle King of New Zealand defeated Zeina Mickawy of Egypt to secure her place in the third round.

King won 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9 to set up a meeting with Annie Au of Hong Kong.
