The United States topped the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning 10 gold and six silver.

The country was particularly dominant in snowboarding with five of the six gold medals on offer going its way.

Jake Pates triumphed in the men's halfpipe and slopestyle events, while Chloe Kim prevailed in the women's equivalents.

Kim is now the reigning Olympic and world champion in halfpipe following victories at Pyeongchang 2018 and Utah 2019 respectively.

Jake Vedder was the US's other snowboarding gold medallist at Lillehammer 2016 thanks to success in the men's snowboard cross.

Another star performer for the Americans in the Norwegian town was River Radamus, who claimed three of the four men's Alpine skiing gold medals available following wins in the giant slalom, super-G and Alpine combined events.

There was also success for the US courtesy of freestyle skier Birk Irving in the men's halfpipe and the nation's men's ice hockey team.

In all, the US had 62 competitors in 15 sports.

At Innsbruck 2012, the nation finished 10th in the medal table with two gold, three silver and three bronze.

It was represented by 57 athletes in 15 sports.

The gold medals went the way of snowboarder Ben Ferguson in the men's halfpipe and the luge mixed relay team.

Ferguson was also a silver medallist in the men's slopestyle, while fellow snowboarder Arielle Gold was the runner-up in the women's halfpipe and women's slopestyle.

Gold has since won world gold, in 2013, and Olympic bronze, at Pyeongchang 2018, in halfpipe.

Among the US's bronze medallists at Incheon 2012 was freestyle skier Aaron Blunck in the men's halfpipe.

In 2019, he became world champion in the same discipline.
