Hosts Norway ranked fifth in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer after winning four gold, nine silver and six bronze.

Freestyle skier Birk Ruud was among the country's gold medallists with victory in the men's slopestyle.

At the 2019 International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships in Utah in the US, Ruud was the slopestyle silver medallist behind Britain's James Woods.

Two of Norway's three other victories at Lillehammer 2016 came in biathlon thanks to Sivert Bakken in the men's pursuit and their mixed relay team, which included Bakken. 

Cross-country skier Thomas Larsen also tasted victory, in the men's sprint.

In all, Norway had 73 competitors in 15 sports.

At Innsbruck 2012, Norway finished ninth in the medal table with two gold, five silver and two bronze.

Both gold medals came in cross-country skiing with Andreas Molden winning the men's sprint and Silje Theodorsen taking victory in the women's sprint. 

A total of 28 athletes in nine sports represented the home nation.
