Finland ranked 21st in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning one silver and five bronze.

The country's solitary silver medallist was snowboarder Elli Pikkujamsa in women's slopestyle

Compatriot Henna Ikola finished third in the same event, while Rene Rinnekangas completed the top three in the men's equivalent.

There were also bronze medals for cross-country skiers Lauri Mannila and Rebecca Immonen in the men's sprint and women's 5km competitions respectively, as well as for Alpine skiers Riikka Honkanen and Sampo Kankkunen in the parallel mixed team event.

Rinnekangas has since gone on to win slopestyle silver at the 2019 Winter X Games in Aspen in the United States.

In all, Finland had 42 competitors in 10 sports.

These figures also applied to Innsbruck 2012, where the nation finished joint 13th in the medal table with Sweden having racked up two gold and two silver.

The gold medallists were freestyle skier Niki Lehikoinen, in men's ski cross, and the men's ice hockey team.
