China ranked seventh in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning three gold, five silver and two bronze.

The trio of gold medallists were Li Yanzhe in men's 500m speed skating, Zang Yize in women's 500m short track speed skating and Meng Fanqi and Zhu Zhenyu in the single mixed relay biathlon event.

In all, China had 23 athletes in seven sports.

At Innsbruck 2012, the country finished second in the medal table with seven gold, four silver and four bronze.

Four of the gold medals came in speed skating with Fan Yang winning the men's 1,500m, 3,000m and mass start events, and Liu An prevailing in the men's 500m competition.

Two of the other three went the way of figure skaters - Yan Han in the men's singles and Yu Xiaoyu and Jin Yang in the pairs - while biathlete Cheng Fangming triumphed in the men's sprint. 

China was represented by 23 athletes in eight sports.
