Austria ranked 12th in the medal table for the 2016 Winter YOG in Lillehammer, winning two gold, three silver and five bronze.

The country's podium toppers were Alpine skiers Nadine Fest and Manuel Traninger in the women's super-G and men's slalom respectively.

Madeleine Egle was the bronze medallist in the women's singles luge event and went onto help Austria to a third-place finish in the team relay at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

In all, Austria had 35 competitors in 12 sports.

As the host nation at Innsbruck 2012, Austria finished third in the medal table with six gold, four silver and three bronze.

Three of the gold medals came in Alpine skiing with Marco Schwarz tasting victory in the men's combined and men's giant slalom events as well as helping his country to success in the parallel mixed team competition.

Schwarz is now an Olympic silver medallist in the team event and triple world bronze medallist.

Austria also topped two freestyle skiing podiums at Innsbruck 2012 - Elisabeth Gram in the women's halfpipe and Michelle Buchholzer in the women's ski cross - and that for women's singles thanks to Miriam-Stefanie Kastlunger.

Overall, it was represented by 81 athletes in 15 sports.
