Japan’s Shiori Saito followed up her victory over number one seed Beatriz Corrales of Spain in yesterday’s women’s singles match by coming out on top against Germany's Yvonne Li today at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Orléans Masters at the Palais des Sports.

The 20-year-old was in sublime form all day and never fell behind in her 33-minute match against the world number 89, eventually coming out on top by a 21-14, 21-9 scoreline, ensuring she qualified for the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere in the women's singles, number two seed Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark recorded a comfortable 21-10, 21-10 victory over Ozge Bayrak of Turkey.

In the men's singles, number three seed and number four seed Rasmus Gemke of Denmark and Mark Caljouw of The Netherlands secured their passage into the last eight thanks to 21-16, 21-13 and 21-14, 21-9 victories over Finland's Eetu Heino and Denmark's Victor Svendsen respectively.

The headline news in the men's doubles was the victory of sixth seeds Francis Alwin and Nandagopal Kidambi, who recovered from a 21-15 reverse in the first game of their match against Poland's Milosz Bochat and Adam Cwalina to win 2-1 overall thanks to two 21-17 wins in the final two games.

In the women's doubles, Danish duo Amalie Magelund and Freja Ravn defeated Germany's Kilasu Ostermeyer and The Netherlands' Iris Tabeling 21-18, 16-21, 21-13 whilst Japan's Mayu Nakamura and Miku Shigeta defeated Ukrainians Maryna Ilyinskaya and Yelyzaveta Zharka by a comfortable 21-15, 21-10 scoreline.

Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles, French number two seeds Roman Labar and Audrey Fontaine booked their place in the next round with a closely fought 16-21, 21-17, 21-19 win against Denmark's Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Alexandra Bøje whilst number three seeds Marvin Emil Seidel and Linda Efler of Germany beat compatriots Josche Zurwonne and Eva Janssens 21-13, 21-19.
