United States demolished Argentina 28-0 to win their home leg of the men's World Rugby Sevens Series in Las Vegas.

The American side delighted their home fans as they won their second-ever title on the circuit and their first since the London Sevens in 2015.

Their success came after they went the entire tournament unbeaten at the Sam Boyd Stadium in the entertainment capital.

Danny Barrett scored two of the winning side's four tries in the final as Perry Baker and Carlin Isles also crossed the whitewash.

Four-out-of-four successful conversions from the boot of Folau Niua completed an emphatic win.

The US had earlier beaten Olympic champions Fiji 19-7 in the semi-finals, with Argentina seeing off defending Las Vegas winners and overall Seven Series champions South Africa 12-10.

"Credit to the men in the arena, they were outstanding, they went out there and executed," said American coach Mike Friday.

"They've executed all three days but especially today we had to change tactics for the Fiji semi and we then had to readjust for the final.

"Everyone delivered and that’s great to see.

"This is a total squad effort and I'm lucky to have such a great bunch of players and support staff.

"We want to show the sporting landscape in the USA what rugby can be and how that fits within the American landscape and this hopefully will touch and reach a lot of sports fans who realise they've got another national team that they can be proud of and that they can support."

Fiji beat South Africa 26-22 to win the bronze medal match.

South Africa still lead the overall standings, however, after five legs of the season which have all produced a different winner.

They have 92 points with New Zealand second on 82 and Fiji third on 79.

The Canada Sevens will now take place in Vancouver from March 10.
