A special architectural exhibition has opened at the Polish Olympic Committee (POC) headquarters to commemorate a gallery which has now been there for 12 years.

The exhibition, organised by architect Wojciech Zabłocki, was the 146th to take place at the building in Warsaw since the facility opened at the National Olympic Committee headquarters in 2006.

POC President Andrzej Kraśnicki was among those present for the unveiling alongside vice-president and International Olympic Committee member Irena Szewińska, a three-time Olympic gold medallist.

Kama Zboralska, the gallery curator and a member of the Olympic Culture and Education Commission, was among the hosts for the event.

Most of the exhibits are of art models depicting sporting facilities.

Zablocki, considered a leading architect in Poland, received a Golden Laurel from the POC in 2016 in recognition of his "overall work in the field of architecture and art".

He has principally worked in Poland but has also designed an Olympic-sized swimming pool in Aleppo and a modern Olympic Centre in Latakia, elsewhere in Syria.

Both of these projects survive undamaged, the POC said, despite the devastating conflict in Syria in recent years.

The exhibition is due to continue running until Thursday (January 25).
