Colombia's cyclist Carolina Munevar is one of three shortlisted Para-athletes in contention for the Americas "Athlete of the Month" prize for September.

Munevar was nominated following her performance at the Para Road Cycling World Championships last month in Pietermaritzburg.

The Colombian emerged as the winner of the women's C2 time trial competition at the event in South Africa.

She will face competition from Canadian athlete, Stefan Daniel, who enjoyed success at the World Para Triathlon Championships.

Daniel achieved his second world title in three years.

The Canadian had headed into the Championships off the back of runner-up finishes at his last two major competitions.

The nominees are completed by the United States' Jeff Fabry, with the archer winning gold at the World Archery Para Championships in Chinese capital Beijing.

Success for Fabry, a gold medallist from the London 2012 Paralympics, came 14 years after his first gold medal at the Championship.

The public will be able to vote for their winner until October 16, with voting taking place here.

Colombian athlete Diego Meneses was named the winner of the award in August.
