The Russian Boxing Team moved back to the top of Group C of the World Series of Boxing after securing a comfortable 4-1 victory over Rafako Hussars Poland in Moscow.

Both franchises have had very different campaigns so far, with the hosts having triumphed in their first three fixtures, while their opponents were still seeking a first victory.

Belik Galanov ensured that the Hussars would be facing another uphill battle as he defeated their 46 to 49 kilogram light flyweight Dawid Jagodzinski in the opening bout of the night.

Jagodzinski, an AIBA World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist, was below par in the early stages of the contest and was punished as Galanov was able to secure a technical knockout win in front of a home crowd.

The Russians moved to the brink of victory when Vladimir Nikitin earned a unanimous points win over the Hussars’ Italian under 56kg bantamweight Riccardo D'Andrea, with all three judges giving him the contest 50-45.

Mateusz Kostecki gave the Hussars hope, as the under 64kg welterweight defeated Grigorii Lizunenko with a technical knockout in the third round of their contest.

Despite the loss, the Russian's triumph on the night was confirmed when Petr Khamukov defeated Tomasz Jablonski in a repeat of their 2015 EUBC European Confederation Boxing Championships 75kg middleweight clash.

On that occasion Khamukov had emerged victorious and he was able to repeat the feat by earning a unanimous verdict from the judges.

Islam Tekeev secured the final win of the night, with the Russian beating Michal Olas on points in the under 91kg event to seal the 4-1 triumph for his franchise.

Russia move head of Venezuela Caciques in the group standings, ahead of the two meeting on April 1.

A victory in that encounter would confirm the Russians as group winners, but they will also have a fixture in hand should they lose.
