The Cuba Domadores got their World Series of Boxing (WSB) Season VI campaign back on track by demolishing the Turkiye Conquerors 5-0 in front of a home crowd in Havana.

After their last Group A outing ended in a 3-2 defeat to the Ukraine Otamans, the Domadores were determined to get back to winning ways and Santiago Amador gave them the ideal start in the opening bout of the night.

The light flyweight was clearly the dominant boxer throughout his bout against the Conquerors’ Tolgahan Ozturk, eventually emerging as a unanimous points winner, with the judges all giving him the contest 50-45.

Amador’s victory set the tone for an excellent night for the Domadores, as International Boxing Association (AIBA) youth world champion Javier Ibanez Diaz made an excellent WSB debut at under 56kg bantamweight level.

Diaz had stepped in for Robeisy Ramirez, with the London 2012 gold medallist competing at the American Olympic Qualification Event, but proved to be more than an able deputee as he beat Nurettin Ovat with a technical knock-out.

Yasniel Toledo Lopez confirmed the Domadores’ win on the night, as the Cuban light welterweight secured a comfortable points triumph over Yakup Sener.

All three of the judges awarded Toledo, a London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist, a 50-44 margin of victory.

Arlen Lopez added further gloss to the scoreline as the under 75kg middleweight defeated Evren Tibukoglu via a technical knockout, with the whitewash completed by 91kg heavyweight Frank Sanchez, as he overcame Seyda Keser unanimously on points.

The result moved the Domadores back to the top of the Group A standings, with the Otamans having suffered a surprise 4-1 loss to the China Dragons.

Light flyweight Junjun He and bantamweight Boxiang Xu were able to claim unanimous points victories over Nazar Kurotchyn and Oleh Dovhun in their respective bouts, putting the Dragons on the verge of victory in Sanya.

The hosts' triumph was confirmed when Caicheng Meng earned a split decision win over Denys Pesotskyy in the light welterweight division, before middleweight Ayiben Hanati replicated the feat against Valerii Kharlamov.

Dmytro Lisovyi earned a consolation win for the Otamans by overcoming Zhe Zhang in the heavyweight division.
