Triathlon hope mixed relay has taken first step on road to Rio 2016

August 19 - Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), today witnessed the introduction here of team triathlon at the inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games, an event the International Triathlon Union (ITU) is campaigning to be included  on the programme at Rio 2016.


Sochi 2014 environmental programme praised

August 19 - Sochi's green programme for the 2014 Olympics and Paralympics was today praised by Theodore Oben, the head of the Outreach Unit at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), who claimed that he has "a strong feeling that Sochi 2014 will be successful" in environmental protection.


Bubka declares Youth Olympics a success already

Bolarinwa sizzles into Youth Olympics final

August 18 - Young British sprint star David Bolarinwa (pictured) lived up to his billing as gold medal favourite in the boys 100 metres at the Summer Youth Olympic Games as he cruised into Saturday’s final with the day’s fastest time of 10.62 seconds in a mixed 24 hours for Britain here.








Iran coach happy to talk about football rather than clothing

August 15 - Shahrzad Mozafar, the coach of the Iranian girl’s team at the Summer Youth Olympic Games, told insidethegames that she was happy to talk about something other than the team’s clothing after her side claimed a 1-0 win over Papa New Guinea in their second match in Group A courtesy of an early second half strike by Fatemeh Ardestani.
