Get Active_Wesport__16-01-12January 17 - The West of England Sport Trust (Wesport), are continuing to promote their club, facility and activity database titled Get Active Wesport, in order to get more people in the area participating in activity ahead of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

The database, launched last June, is designed to be one stop shop for sport and physical activity opportunities across the West of England, including Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

It is the only free West of England-wide database for those wishing to search for an activity to take part in, find a new club or pin point a sporting facility.

Wesport also work closely with the Team West of England, the body co-chaired by MP Don Foster and British Paralympic Association (BPA) chief executive Tim Hollingsworth that was formed to promote the benefits and legacy of London 2012.

"Get Active Wesport is free for people and organisations to register their club, facility or activity to help promotion," said a Wesport statement.

"This new system will improve the promotion of activities across the West of England.

"The use of the system has been expanded to enhance a number of London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic legacy projects.

"One such example is 'Sportivate', where Get Active Wesport is being used as a platform to display all the projects that are taking place in the local area, providing young people with everything they need to get involved with a Sportivate activity.

"Wesport is working closely with Team West of England and using Get Active Wesport as a way of collating all the legacy activities that are happening across the West of England.

"These activities will all be clearly visible on Get Active Wesport as they will be flagged with the Team West of England logo and the user will be able to search for 2012 related activities and events at the touch of a button."

Wesport hope that the resource will ensure that the West of England has a clear record of 2012 related events well after the Olympic and Paralympic Games have taken place in order to demonstrate their contribution to a national legacy from the Games.
