The 10-day event, which opened in Belgrade on Monday (September 5), will see a total of five Olympic quotas assigned in the five Olympic events of trap, double trap and skeet shooting, which also includes separate events for junior athletes and teams.

The first day of competition also saw Italy's Massimo Fabbrizi becoming the new trap men world champion in the first medal match, with a total score of 149 hits, while Davi Kostelecky of Czech Republic took silver with 146 hits and Clamens claimed bronze with 145 hits.

"I still can't believe I made it," said Fabbrizi.

"I did not check the scoreboard; I did not pay attention to my opponents.

"I was just focusing on my targets, and after I hit the 23rd clay I knew I had become the new world champion.

"It feels great."

The ISSF Shotgun World Championship will continue at the Kovilovo Shooting range on the outskirts of the Serbian capital until September 14.
