Germany_march_in_Bogner_fashion_in_Vancouver_2010August 4 - Bogner Fashion has won the bid to dress Germany's team for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, it has been announced by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).

It will be the 18th time that Bogner have provided the outfits for the German Olympic team.

But it will be the first occasion that they have been chosen for the task for the Summer Games.

Bogner dressed the German team that competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Vancouver.

The company was set-up by skiier Willy Bogner in 1932 and they dressed the German team for the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

It is now run by Bogner's son, also called Willy, the former chief executive of Munich's unsuccessful bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

"For more than 70 years we have been working with the Olympics so it is great joy to continue to work with the DOSB," said Bogner, who was forced to step down as head of Munich's bid because of ill health.

"Our roots lay in winter sports but we still have a lot to offer the summer sports.

"So it is a very speial honour to mark our 80th anniversary by providing the uniforms for London 2012."

Bogner will also provide the formal wear for other occasions during London 2012 and provide a selection of items that will go on sale to the public.

"We are pleased to have such a prestigious partner as Bogner," said Thomas Bach, the President of the DOSB.

"Our winter athletes are already very familiar with their uniform.

"I am sure our athletes in London will enjoy wearing Bogner and the German team will look very good."

Germany sent 463 athletes to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and 171 in the Paralympics.

"Bogner will provide is the right mix of sporty, stylish and practical wear - and it will certainly look good," said Michael Vesper, the director general of the DOSB and Germany's Chef de Mission for London 2012.
